Birkenhead Primary School had a brand new building complex under construction.

A funky shade sail design was incorporated in the lunch/break time area below the new building to protect students from harmful UV rays.

Shade Systems worked closely with the architect, Pacific Environments, to create a shaded area that looked aesthetically pleasing in the new space, while providing maximum shade protection.

A combination of both Star Shade and Shade Sails was chosen to achieve this finish.

The size of the area covered is 75m² in Star Shades, and 75m² in Shade Sails, totalling 150m².

These were comprised of 3 Shade Sails in Monotec 370 Bundena Blue Colour, and 3 Star Shades with HDG frameworks and Sky Fabric tensile Membrane Covers.

Our Shade Sails & Star Shades are not flat pieces of material – they are an architectural design piece of flare, not only providing shade, but also some cool aesthetics to help spruce up a tired and old school area – or in this case, creating a brand new one.
