College.
At Māruawai College, the game can keep going when the weather turns.
The 2,698m² canopy was officially opened by Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, alongside Gore Mayor Ben Bell and Southland MP Joseph Mooney.
Behind the open, airy space is tonnes of steel and careful planning. The structure uses 60 tonnes of steel, including 720 metres of rolled steel. Engineered to a 50-year design life and built with generations in mind, this NZ-made canopy delivers reliable, all-weather cover for tennis, netball, basketball, futsal and hockey, providing a long-term, naturally light and quiet facility for both the school and wider community.
With a 50-year design life, Māruawai College now has a place for sport and community life that’s built to last.
