Baradene College of the Sacred Heart is a girls school situated in Remuera, Auckland. It is renowned for it’s expansive sporting facilities and beautiful heritage buildings.

Shade Systems worked with Jazmax Architects to design a walkway canopy solution to provide cover from the school’s new sports complex back to the original school building.

The canopy needed to include lights for night use and be waterproof for winter months. Shade Systems were selected for this project as the school had seen what we’d completed for Rototuna High School’s in Hamilton, and they wanted something similar.

The walkway canopy design is mono-pitched PVC roof. Flat roof design isn’t always recommended but as this pathway had a slope to it, we incorporated these angles into the design so that water drainage would flow as it should.

Shade Systems took care of the complete project from design to installation. This included all concrete work plus footpaths, the installation of the canopy itself, drainage and stormwater connection, plus a complex lighting system which has daytime and nighttime sensors and integrates with the canopy framework.

Overall, the walkway structure is a really tidy design and provides an all-weather cover solution.
