Koru School is the latest of many schools in their area to have a Covered outdoor learning area, a custom design that strongly expresses the Pacific culture of the school.
Takapuna Primary School upgraded their saggy shade sail structure with an all weather learning and play space, including a custom designed system for stormwater catchment and drainage.
Stanhope Road School wanted to add a source for enhancing their school culture and pride, now their COLA Canopy is in constant use by the students and the wider community.
Flat Bust Primary School added a COLA Canopy to protect their newly-installed basketball court surfaces from the sun, and includes a quality sound system and nice lighting for night use.
Rowandale School needed a design with an extra wing covering a stage area, Shade Systems then completed the whole build, including the new concrete stage platform.

Raroa Normal Intermediate School had their COLA Canopy built on a difficult-to-access site with lots of underground services, but Shade Systems completed the build to excellent standards, despite having to deal with some inclement Wellington weather.
These COLA Canopies now serve as the central hub for all of these schools outdoor learning activities, as well as operating as community hubs that the schools can hire out in the evenings.
The main and most obvious benefit of the COLA Canopy is the weather protection, but schools are also reporting that these structures do a lot for school and community culture and pride.
