Sacred Heart College

Canopy over Cricket Nets

Located in Glendowie Auckland, Sacred Heart College is recognised as one of New Zealand’s leading Catholic boys’ schools with a current roll of approximately 1,300 students. The College prides itself in having many high-class facilities, especially for sports purposes.

In 2016 the College was looking to upgrade and cover their existing cricket nets so The Head of Sports got in contact with Shade Systems to provide a quote. As this type of structure was something Shade Systems hadn’t done before, we were up for the challenge.

The bespoke canopy structure is fully enclosed, with walls made of PVC fabric mesh tensioned down two lengths with roll-up Polythene sides as extra protection from the elements. These wind up and down with a simple handle system and will help keep the canopy warmer and drier in winter. The walls on each end are SAC PVC panels with a sliding door at the far end for main access and Fire Egress door at the other end for safety reasons. Each practising lane has its own LED lighting for night use.

The installation of this canopy structure went well and was complete and ready for use from July, for year-round cricket practising.
