"Both jobs were fully managed by the Shades System team from design, consenting to installation and lighting ... Everything about the finished structures was beyond our expectations and every aspect from safety, functionality and look were expertly addressed."

Chris Grace, Owner - Te Rapa New World

New World

In November 2011, New World put forward an opportunity for the covering of walkways at their New World store in Kerikeri. Shade Systems duly submitted their design and proposal, and early in 2012, Foodstuffs contacted us, expressing interest in our ideas. Further proposals were submitted (along with the car park shade concepts), with new designs proposed and a range of options given for the company’s discussion. These included a domed shape canopy, a more radical wave design and a curving ‘gull wing’ canopy.

After much discussion, it became clear that the domed canopy was the preferred option, and the final details were ironed out. In June, our installation team moved in, working quickly so as not to hinder patrons of the shopping centre unduly. Work was completed by the end of the month, and the canopy has proved to be a great asset for the store in the wet winter months of the Bay of Islands, protecting shoppers and their groceries as they come and go.

Country-wide continuity

Similar walkway and car park shade projects have also been carried out in New Lynn, Howick, Browns Bay, Orewa, Whitianga and Kumeu in Auckland, at the Regent and Kerikeri stores in the North and the Rotorua, Te Rapa, Rototuna stores in Waikato and at the Pioneer, Feilding and New Plymouth stores further South. This is all part of New World’s drive to provide continuity in their customers experiences – no matter which New World store you visit, you know exactly what you can expect – which is nothing short of the best. Shade Systems is proud to be a part of these projects and to be working with one of New Zealand’s major companies to help improve the shopping experience for their customers.
