"We had some specific requirements... shelter from rain on the staircases, as well as sun protection for seating under the shades. Matt was very approachable and worked in well with the existing contractors who were on site, to get the shades installed. I would not hesitate to recommend Shade Systems and Manurewa High School would definitely be using them in the future."

Julie Lockie, Business Manager - Manurewa High School

Manurewa High School

Staircase shelter

With 1,900 students representing over 40 nationalities, Manurewa High School is the largest multicultural school in New Zealand.

Shade Systems was contacted to provide shade and shelter over three external staircases for the recently refurbished Nelson block. The architect had specified big flat sheets of fabric, which would have provided adequate protection for the pupils and staff but wouldn’t have worked as membranes need curved tension.

The design team at Shade Systems advised on some changes to the original plans in order to place some tension in the shades and maximise protection from the elements.
