The Ironman Challenge

For years we have been awaiting the opportunity to construct one of our Ironman Series COLA Canopies. These structures are an all steel alternative to our popular PVC tensile membrane structures. The steel roof gives scope to more design options with the roof style, from the classic gable to a low profile skillion, which can allow the structure to blend with existing building architecture within the school grounds.

Whilst we had the all steel option available, Schools typically preferred the tensile membrane structures, because of the natural daylight transmission and low maintenance requirements, so we never had the opportunity to display our expertise with steel cladding alternatives.

Te Totara Primary School had already worked with a local architect who pre-designed a steel-clad roof structure. A tender was released, and we grabbed the opportunity with both hands, it was the Ironman Challenge for the team.

Shade Systems were pleased to be awarded the project. We took care of the complete project, including extra concrete and electrical work. We are proud to finally have our first Ironman structure standing. This 37m x 39m Canopy has proved to be an excellent asset for the School.
