In April 2015, the Project Manager of an architectural company in Rarotonga came to us with a very vague brief. “We are looking at some options for an open area of about 36m x 24m for the National Auditorium on Rarotonga, Cook Islands.”

We received the challenge to get a shade solution designed, approved,  manufactured and shipped to the Cook Islands. Additionally, they wanted it installed by July 2015. This would be in time for the celebrations of the island’s 50-year anniversary of independence.

The race was on! Above all, we wanted to prove to this small island community that we could achieve the impossible. Although asked to produce one large canopy, Shade Systems manufactured and supplied twin canopies. We placed them next to each other either side of the main entrance to the Rarotonga National Auditorium. This has given the auditorium additional seating space. Also, it protects patrons from the sun and rain showers. Ultimately, we succeeded in all the challenges we were set!

“I would definitely recommend Shade Systems to any individual ,company or government organisation. Their service and products are of a high standard and quality well-suited to the Cook Islands.”
