Kristin School

Making a netball court area a more usable space.
COMPLETED April 2018

Kristin School was looking to make its netball court area a more usable space. It wasn’t much use when the weather was miserable. Therefore, the Junior School came up with the concept of covering the court. This would provide an outdoor learning and playing space with weather protection all year round – not only for rainy days but sun protection throughout the summer.

Nigel Wilkinson, Director of Business Services, contacted Shade Systems early November 2017 to provide a proposal for a COLA (Covered Outdoor Learning Area) over this court area. They selected us as the preferred option after a short analysis period. Thus the ball was rolling only 3 weeks after the initial visit!

What appealed to Nigel was taking care of the complete project and Shade Systems expertise. Shade Systems team had regular contact to keep Nigel and his team updated throughout the project process. We faced a new challenge. There were overhead high transmission cables near the site which required additional permits and planning.  However, the project still ran to the confirmed initial timeline and was completed on time 4 months later.

The kids love it and they continually use the space for many activities! To sum up, Kristin School have a useful outdoor covered area that the kids can use all year round.
