Everglade School first inquired about a COLA (Covered Outdoor Learning Area) back in 2012. The School wanted a maximum size canopy to fit the space.  Thus it took about 5 years to raise funds from the community. In that time we were planning and constructing the perfect COLA and taking tours of other schools with canopies with the school.  Ultimately, Everglade School gave us the go-ahead in February 2017.

Over a 4 week period, the construction of the COLA went very well. Now that the canopy is up, the School has discovered all the benefits it has. From providing a large shaded playing area in Summer to allowing PE classes to continue in Winter.

Principal John Robinson said, “Over a four year period, Everglade School worked with Shade Systems in planning and constructing a COLA, which now stands proudly on our court. Throughout the process, we were confident in the service and capability of the Shade Systems team. They maintained high levels of communication and were able to accommodate our thoughts and needs. The construction process itself was very well-managed, and as a result the COLA structure just fits so well. Great work, Shade Systems!”
